Gig history

John has performed live many many times in the Isle of Man, where he lives, as well as a small number of times in England.

Below is a list of venues in the Isle of Man where John has appeared. For the majority of these shows John has performed as part of the blues duo Blue John and Papa Cass while some of the appearances have been rare solo gigs or with an extended line up of the blues duo.

For most of the appearances John has played an acoustic guitar but for a handful he has performed on an electric.

The performances at these venues range from brief open mic appearances to Isle of Man Blues Club events, charity events, support slots for visiting artists, festival events and headline slots.

There are other venues in the Island (not listed) where John has taken part in more informal performances or jam sessions.

He has literally played for two men and a dog in a field in Castletown to an audience of several hundred at the Isle of Man’s biggest indoor venue, the Villa Marina in Douglas.
