Here are some pictures from A Very Special Evening of Acoustic Blues at The Institute, Laxey, on Saturday, March 2 2013.
The sold out event marked 50 years to the day since the rediscovery of blues legend Mississippi John Hurt.
John Gregory organised the event and booked Dr Philip Ratcliffe, author of Mississippi John Hurt, His Life, His Times, His Blues, to give a presentation and perform some songs.
Also on the bill was Pete Woodman, of Ramsey – who is not only a great guitar player but makes great guitars!
Blue John and Papa Cass (featuring John Gregory on guitar and vocals and Tim Cass on harmonica and vocals) finished off the evening with a number of Mississippi John Hurt songs. Pete and Dr Phil performed with them on the final three numbers – Praying On The Old Campground, I Shall Not Be Moved and Goodnight Irene.
